Allan Coon joined Hubbard, Ruzicka, Kreamer & Kincaid upon its formation on February 1, 1996. He began his legal career in 1992 when he graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and accepted a position as an associate at Morrison & Hecker in its Kansas City, Missouri office. In September 1994, he became associated with the Olathe, Kansas office of Watson & Marshall, where he remained until accepting his present position at HRKK. He became a member of the firm in 1999.
Mr. Coon ranked first in his law school class at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and received numerous American Jurisprudence awards for his classroom work, together with other academic honors. He was a member of the National Moot Court Team which advanced to national competition in New York City in January 1992, and received the Appellate Advocacy award for his efforts in the Moot Court program. He received undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Business Education from Northwest Missouri State University, completing his undergraduate work in 1987.
Mr. Coon is licensed to practice in both Missouri and Kansas. His practice encompasses all aspects of civil litigation, with a significant emphasis on appellate work and other complex research and writing projects. He most frequently becomes involved in post-divorce and general litigation matters, but his practice has also touched upon many other areas, including criminal defense, defamation, and international law. He has participated in appellate briefing or argument before the Kansas and Missouri Courts of Appeals, the Kansas and Missouri Supreme Courts, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eighth, Tenth and Federal Circuits.
Mr. Coon is a member of the Kansas and Missouri Bar Associations, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Johnson County Bar Association.
Mr. Coon resides in Shawnee, Kansas with his wife Deborah, who is a nurse practitioner, and their faithful Gold Retriever, Rocky. He enjoys spending time at home with his family and his grandchildren, while his outside interests include hiking, bicycling, golf, basketball, tennis, music, filming and Texas hold 'em poker.
